Christmas Craft Fayre & Fun Day
Hundreds of visitors braved the rain to visit Stanton House Hotel yesterday (25/8/2014) where an inaugural fun day was launched to showcase the country house. Katy Booy, the wedding co-ordinator at the Stanton Fitzwarren resort, organised the event, which included a raffle and silent auction in aid of St Leonard’s church. The church is regularly used for weddings by the hotel and, after a problem was discovered with the tower at the church, the hotel was quick to start raising funds to assist with repairs.
Katy said much of the event escaped the rain as it was held inside the hotel but there would have been a few more inflatables for children had the sun come out. “It’s been very busy,” she said. “we have had over 300 people here. Many of them have come from outside rather than as existing guests. “its gone much better than expected, especially with the weather. “We were very worried when we saw the rain this morning, but its been fantastic.” “this is the first year we are doing it. we were just seeing how it goes. If it goes well, we will do it again.”
